And now, I am going to 'Wii-view' it. Also,
Before I say anything. No, it wasn't a complete mock-up of the previous title; "Phantom Hourglass". But I'm not going to say it doesn't have the same elements as PH. It's the very same engine as PH, so the controls, and most of the visual graphics are the same. And also, I hate it when people complain about how there is technology in this game. So what? ST takes place circa 10,101 years after Ocarina of Time, so somewhere in that time frame someone decided to take a step forward in the evolution of society. Heck, Majora's Mask was one year after OoT, and one boss is a frickin' (author's note; censored due to the fact I don't wanna get in trouble with my fiancée's parents) mechanical bull.
Well, anyway. The plot of ST is that The Hero of Winds (Link) and Tetra find a new land, and call it 'Hyrule'. I'm going to refer to it as 'New Hyrule', just so things aren't as confusing. Well, in New Hyrule there was this on-going war with the Demon King, and the Spirits (Anyone who just thought 'Armageddon' may now treat themselves to a cookie). The Spirits cannot defeat the Demon King, so instead they lock him into the earth, using train tracks as chains and the Tower of Spirits as a lock. 100 years later. Soon to be Hero of the Tracks (Link) has to go to New Hyrule Castle to get his Engineer's Certificate from Princess Zelda. Well, after the ceremony, Zelda asks Link to help her sneak out of the castle. He does so, and on the train ride to the Tower of Spirits, the Spirit Tracks disappear. Train crashes. Recovering from the wreckage, Chancellor Cole (bad guy) and his minion Byrne attack Link and Zelda. Cole kills Zelda, and they take her body away. But, Zelda's spirit now follows Link around. And they figure out that they have to go to the four temples and save the spirit tracks so the evil Demon King isn't resurrected in the body of Zelda blah-be-blah-be-blah.
Onto the gameplay of ST. It's fairly simple, your stylus is used for everything. So if you wanna play this game but lost your stylus to you couch last week, then get to digging, Billy, because if you don't have it you're fricked. Unlike PH, ST has some new weapons, such as the Whirlwind. To use this item, you actually have to blow into the mic. Same thing for the 'Spirit Flute', you blow into it to play the notes. So if you don't have a pair of lungs, might wanna search your couch for those, too.
I've made the argument that graphics don't make the game, heck I still play games with 8-bit sprites, but I can tell Nintendo kinda' rushed in this department. The trees and rocks on the overworld look like cardboard cut-outs.
Overall, it's a good game. The dungeons are challenging but not difficult (though there are only six of them), the bosses are fun and can be re-fought, the train is long and arduous, but there's plenty of things to do, like shoot rocks, or shoot pirates, or catch bunnies, or shoot spiders, or taxi people, or do chores for people.
I never do the star rating system, I think it's rather idiotic as it isn't a real review, but if you have to ask I'd give it a
